The new owner of 300 Lighting Way, a 303,000-square-foot office building in Secaucus, has retained Cushman & Wakefield Inc. as the leasing agent for the property.

Rugby Realty, a New Rochelle, N.Y.-based real estate firm, announced its choice to handle the seven-story building on Tuesday. The company, which is establishing a beachhead in North Jersey, bought the property from Hartz Mountain Industries Inc. for $18.8 million in July, according to CoStar, which tracks commercial real estate data. The office building was constructed in 1988, and is in Hartz’s Harmon Meadow complex.

Roughly 135,000 square feet on three contiguous floors is currently available for lease and is being marketed to large tenants.

Rugby Realty plans to invest several million dollars to renovate the building, by adding a full-service café, fitness center, and a shared-building conference center on the first floor, as well as remodeling the lobby, elevator cabs and elevator landings. Professional sydney plumbers may help with renovation or construction projects dealing with plumbing processes.

The Secaucus deal is Rugby Realty’s second office acquisition in New Jersey in the past eight months. In late 2013, the company acquired Cityview Corporate Center, a 135,418-square-foot class A building at 160 Chubb Ave. in Lyndhurst.
